Computer

intent

Technology has become an important part of our day-to-day lives. Through the teaching of our Computing Curriculum at Handsworth Primary School, we will equip our children to question, explore, find, analyse and present information through the process of computational thinking. Our intent is to focus on developing the skills necessary for children to use computing effectively for their learning. Computing skills are a major factor in enabling children to be confident, curious and ambitious, and it is our intention that every child has every opportunity available to allow them to achieve their full potential. Through our curriculum, we intend for pupils not only to be digitally competent and have a range of transferable skills at a suitable level for the future workplace but also to be responsible online citizens.

The scheme of work that we follow at Handsworth Primary will enable pupils to meet the end of Key Stage Attainment targets outlined in the National curriculum and align with those in the National curriculum. This scheme also covers the objectives of the DfE’s Education for a Connected World framework which will help to equip children for life in the digital world, including developing their understanding of appropriate online behaviour, copyright issues, being discerning consumers of online information and have a healthy use of technology.
